Fictional Football Kits – Some of Pop Culture’s best get their own football teams

Popular culture and football have had a symbiotic relationship for a long time, whether it be Neymar showing up in a Vin Diesel action film or a statue of Michael Jackson being immortalised in the form of a stature outside Craven Cottage. So what if we could give some of the most popular fictional places a football team and a kit to match?

Emerald City FC – Wizard of Oz

Background of the club

The Emerald City Football Club was founded in November of 1939 and since that point they have been a team that have flattered to deceive. Along the way, they have made it several MLS Finals but have always been revealed to be much lesser than first thought. There is hope around the city that the team can one day make it to the top.

Gotham Knights FC – Batman

Background of the club

Founded in May of 1939, the Gotham Knights have been a side constantly in turmoil, with corruption plaguing the club for a long time. Recently, the club has been taken over by billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne, and look more likely than ever to be a competitor.

Springfield Isotopes FC – The Simpsons

Home Kit

Background of the club

This small town team have been something of the clown of the MLS, losing many games and being poorly run, under the ownership of a local energy magnate. The team have a locally based squad and although they play with real unity, they have seemingly fallen away in recent times and something new is desperately needed.

So that’s just three teams, what do you think? Do you want to hear more about these sides? Let me know in the comments and on social media!

  • Love this. Would’ve thought the Simpsons one would be yellow though! Why the choice of blue?

    • Thanks for the reply! I chose blue mainly as yellow seemed a bit on the nose for the Simpsons so I picked the blue as something a bit different.
