Diego Simeone’s defensive juggernaut’s host Borussia Dortmund at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday evening with Atleti keen to put the reverse fixture behind them.

Two weeks ago, Dortmund surprised a few at the Westfalenstadion, putting four past La Liga’s best defence, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Los Rojiblancos have conceded just six goals in La Liga so far this season and such result was inconceivable pre-match.

With three wins from three, Lucien Favre’s side currently occupy first place in group A, and are yet to concede a goal.

Atleti are not far behind, sitting in 2nd place after victories over both AS Monaco and Club Brugge.

If Simeone’s men can overcome a Dortmund side who may be the competitions dark horse, they would remain in second but join BVB on nine points.

With both Monaco and Club Brugge, both struggling so far, defeat wouldn’t be too damaging for the home side.

Atleti enter the game following an underwhelming 1-1 draw against Leganes last weekend and will be looking to get back to winning ways.

TEAM NEWS

Atleti could be without a series of big names after Diego Godín, Diego Costa, and Koke all missed the clash with Leganes at the weekend and their inclusion remains doubtful.

José Giménez could also miss out. The 23-year-old was fit enough to make the bench at the weekend but is believed to have been carrying an injury.

As for Dortmund, they will be without Shinji Kagawa whilst Paco Alcácer could start successive Dortmund matches for the first time.
