#25For2025 – Finding Tomorrow’s Stars – 22-20

Between now and 2025, the top players of today will begin to make way for the next generation of super star talents. This list will attempt to pick out some of those players, in no particular order, and establish what will make them the best around.

#22 – Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) – Centre Forward

It could be argued that almost any player with half a shred of potential could succeed under Pep Guardiola, however, for a player to step into an elite Premier League team and make the sort of impact that Jesus has made is something that many would struggle to replicate. The young Brazilian has also started to fill a long time gap for his national team, recently scoring the winner against world champions Germany. He could go onto lead club and country to glory for years to come.

Similar to: Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Luis Suarez

#21 – Frenkie de Jong (Ajax) – Centre Midfielder

Another player to come from the world renowned Ajax academy, de Jong has proven to be an integral asset to how his manager Hank ten Hag has set out his team this season. His style of play is extremely similar to that of Sergio Busquets, with his role involving collecting the ball from the defence and linking with the forward players. He has yet to make his international debut but that should change in the near future, with a Netherlands team desperately in need of quality in central midfield.

Similar to: Sergio Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Andrea Pirlo

#20 – Dayot Upamecano (Red Bull Leipzig) – Centre Back

The project at Red Bull Leipzig is one of great intrigue, backed by international drinks company Red Bull, it could have been the case that they would instant success but as exemplified by Upamecano, youth has been the focus of the clubs transfer business and if Upamecano is any example of the success, then Leipzig could prove to be a real player on the European stage. The French centre-back has shown real quality in his first season in the Bundesliga and could prove an asset for the long term for the club. He is yet to make his first appearance in the supremely talented France team but it is surely only a matter of time.
