A Phoenix Rises – North Ferriby returns

A couple of months ago, a piece was released here about the unfortunate fate of North Ferriby United, as they were dissolved before the season had even finished. Recent developments have led to North Ferriby being resurrected by a passionate group of fans and will compete in the Northern Counties East League, the tenth step of the English football pyramid.

How have other Phoenix clubs fared?

The most famous Phoenix club would have to be Wimbledon, after the famous club were moved to Milton Keynes, and the club reformed and held trials in the local park to put together a side that would end up getting all the way to League One, a division above MK Dons.

This path may not be entirely relevant to North Ferriby but the precedent is there for success.

Hereford and Scarborough have both had to reform and both are struggling to make their ways through the football pyramid, such is the struggle of any club at any level. North Ferriby, under the stewardship of Les Hare, a former chairman of the defunct club for 22 years, and are likely to need fans to be the ones to dig deep and support the club.

This year marks 100 years of football in North Ferriby and it’s arguably the toughest time the community have faced, so if they want to see another century of football, they need to take this second chance and create something special and, more importantly, sustainable.
