La Liga supports Breast Cancer awareness day with Pink matchday.

La Liga have made a bold statement to help raise awareness for international breast cancer awareness day.

The annual campaign organised by charities within October aims to increase awareness of the disease and to raise money to fund vital research into prevention and to help with diagnosis with the eventual aim of finding a cure.

Even though mortality rates for breast cancer are projected to fall by 26% in the United Kingdom between the period of 2014 and 2035, to 31 deaths per 100,000 females over that period, there is still so much work to do.

Which is why the Spanish Football League are fully behind the campaign and have turned the matchday for both LaLiga & Liga Iberdrola clubs pink to unite behind the campaign.

Every La Liga club from Real Betis in the top flight to Real Murcia in Segunda B, have turned their club crest Pink across all social media platforms to show solidarity.

In addition, every captain from Liga Iberdrola will wear a pink armband throughout this game week.

The hashtag #wearitpink was generated and has been used by the likes of Villarreal CF, who themselves by coincidence already have a pink away strip of which the club will donate 20% of sales generated over this weekend to the Spanish Association Against Cancer.

Atlético Madrid have also gone a step further and have decided to light up the Wanda Metropolitano stadium pink for their game against the yellow submarine.

Outside of La Liga, Charlton striker Lyle Taylor is also playing his part after he dyed his hair pink to help raise money for Breast Cancer. A disease close to his heart.
